From sports to music, day camps offer something for everyone in Forsyth.
The Forsyth County YMCA is offering 5 sessions of day camps for kids ages 5 – 12. Kids have the opportunity for new and different experiences with each themed week. Among the fun summer themes are Sports/College week, Cartoon week, Rock Star week, and Olympic week. To get more information on the YMCA summer program, call 770-888-2788.
For those about to rock, Music Authority is offering two sessions of Rock University and three vocal camps beginning in June. Rock University attendees are assigned to their own bands where they learn famous rock songs and give a performance for friends and family on the last day of camp. The vocal camps offer instruction for anyone looking to broaden their horizon in singing. Music Authority is located at 123 Merchants Square, Cumming, GA. 770-886-9066.
Forsyth County Parks and Recreation also has an extensive summer camp program including weekly themes such as Wacky Water, Camp Olympics, Off the Wall, Mad Scientist and Bike Week. Camps are located at Central Park, Sharon Springs Park, and Sawnee Mountain Park. Each camp is from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with extended care hours being offered at Central Park only. The Atlanta Soccer Academy is hosting full- and half-day summer camps in two sessions -- June 5-9 and July 10-14. These camps are designed to challenge players and teams to raise their level of play through technical and tactical training. All aspects of the game of soccer will be addressed, including individual and team development. Camps will incorporate fun games and activities while instituting a solid understanding of the game in each camper. Players will be grouped by age and ability and will learn in a comfortable but challenging environment. Each participant will receive an ASA t-shirt. Early drop-off and late pickup are available. The Cumming Recreation and Parks Department is offering several athletic camps and clinics again this summer including basketball, soccer, volleyball and many others. Bulldog Basketball Camp: The coaches at Forsyth Central High School will conduct our basketball camps at Dobbs Creek Recreation Center this year. The boy’s camp will be June 12-16 with ages 8 – 10 meeting at 1:00 P.M till 4:00 and ages 11-14 will be meeting at 9:00 A.M. till 12:00 P.M. The girl’s camp will be June 19-23 with ages 8 – 14 meeting at 9:00 A.M. till 12:00 P.M. The cost of the camp will be $55.
Shooting Skills Camp: Steve Barnes will conduct this camp at Dobbs Creek Recreation Center for boys and girls during the dates of June 27-29. Ages 8-10 will meet at 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. and ages 11-14 will meet at 8:30 A.M. till 10:30 A.M. The cost of the camp will be $45.
Soccer Camp: Sid Bramblett will conduct this camp the week of June 19-23 at Forsyth Central High School for boys and girls ages 8 – 14. The times of the camp will be 9:00 A.M. till 1:00 and the cost will be $55.
Volleyball Camp: Kristen Barinowski will conduct both camps during the weeks of June 5-9 and July 10-14 at Forsyth Central High School for both boys and girls ages 10 – 14. The times of the camp will be 9:00 A.M. till 12:00 P.M. and the cost will be $55.
Lil’ Rookies Baseball Clinic: Sid Bramblett will conduct this clinic on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on July 18 – Aug 3 at the City Park little field. The ages for the clinic are 4 and 5 year olds and they will meet at 4:30 P.M. till 5:30 P.M. The cost of the Clinic will be $40.
FUNdamentals Baseball / Softball Camps: Sid Bramblett will conduct these camps the weeks of June 26-30 (ages 9-12) and July 24 – 28 (ages 7-10). These camps will feature instruction in the morning and swimming at the City Park pool in the afternoon. The cost of the camps will be $85 for the June camp and $75 for the July camp.
Bulldog Fast-Pitch Softball Camp: Emily Pritchett will conduct the camp at Forsyth Central High School softball field the week of June 26 – 30. The ages for the camp will be 9-14 and the times will be 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. The cost of the camp will be $55.
